Unforgettable

This was my first experience on a diving liveaboard and it was unforgettable. The Amaya Explorer is a beautiful, clean and incredibly well maintained vessel. The dive guides were super chill, friendly and knowledgeable (I will give special props to my dive guide Irwan - but you can't go wrong with Wilson or any of the other dive guides!). Nearly every dive site we went to around Raja Ampat was phenomenal - it truly is the best dive location I've ever been to so far around the world. The meals were amazing - as if we were eating at a fancy restaurant each day. The rental dive equipment was well maintained and in great condition. What I really appreciated though was the attention the crew paid to the small details - which went well above any expectations I had. The towels were tumble-dried and folded after every dive and personally handed to you with a cup of warm lemon tea. The rooms were clean and tidied up after the first morning dives. Used plates and glasses are removed promptly without asking. Cameras and dive computers were cleaned and dried after every dive - with compressed gas used to clean out the nooks and crannies. The snack boxes were always full. The coffee pot was never empty. Even the shoes we wore during shore excursions were cleaned and dried without asking.

Diving memory for a lifetime!

From pick up to drop off in Sorong, the entire experience was well-organized. Crew and dive guides were professional and experienced, a pleasure to spend time with. Rental dive equipment was top condition, there was plenty of space for getting prepared on the dive deck, wash/rinse stations for cameras, dive computers, etc. Briefings were clear and the actual diving was some of the best I have ever seen. Food & drink services was great, it's amazing what they can put together in that small ship's galley! There were some nice hikes included as part of the experience as the beauty of Raja Ampat is not entirely below water. Crew even helped recover a camera drone which yielded some of the most amazing videos of the islands. Shark Point was also very memorable. The boat itself was well-designed, but some of the rooms apparently had leaks which were sealed with tarps and reportedly would be fixed in the next refit. My cabin had no trouble with this at all during my weeklong liveaboard experience. Once that is fixed, it's a 10/10.
